Meet the Owners

After some tedious, frustrating and soul searching moments, Wood N’ Hog Barbecue opened its doors Monday June 13, 2016 in the small blacked owned Pirtle Plaza n the North End of Champaign County. Sister and brother Michael McDonald and Okema Battle are natives of Chicago and have more than two decades of experience making barbecue.

Our restaurant's slogan is "All Smoke, No Joke."

We believe in giving customers a quality meal at a decent price. We smoke our meat daily using hickory wood using a aquarium style wood burning pit. Our bbq sauce is homemade and never prepackaged. Our signature sides are prepared with love and inspired by our grandmother Fannie Battle who inspired our passion for cooking and serving.

We are a small business, and we understand there are other places in town where you can get barbecue, but we just want the people of central Illinois to give us an opportunity. We are both easily accessible and we consider ourselves working managers. Stop in to either of our locations and say hi.
